Even though it was warm for February, the snow was virtually gone, and the ice was really thawing and melting away; my buddy and fellow painter Mark and I got chilled pretty good in 45 degree air while we painted. We met up and headed to Rogers Lakewood Park on the north end of Valparaiso IN to see if there was anything that caught our eye. Sure enough, a trek down a small hill, and right to the lakeside proved fruitful. We thought it a good day, though overcast, as we got setup, and started to take in the scene and some mild February air. Thinking it warm for that time of year, we really didn't dress appropriately, and by the time we were done, we were both chilled, and numb, but it was so, so worth it!
"Early February Thaw" 8x10, Oil on canvas covered board. This painting was awarded an honorable mention, after being hung in the Chesterton Woman's Club 68th Annual Art Show, in June of 2019.
