An Analogous Fall Fantasy

You can smell it in the air, the changing of the seasons; it drifts with the clouds across the pond from the distant trees, as you revel in the moment and prepare yourself for whats to come - or could it be fooling you? Perhaps not all is as it seems, your world may be turned inside out, and upside down.

This tranquil scene was done as an experiment. The photo I used for this painting was actually taken in the deep and acid greens of high summer. I wanted to see if I could mentally reverse all the colors of the scene to their opposite on the color wheel, which also allowed me to use an analogous color palette (where all the colors are directly next to each other on the color wheel); and in so doing creating a false sense, or fantasy of a fall type of scene. I was very happy with how it turned out, and feel I accomplished my intended goal, I hope you all enjoy it as well!

This 8x10 soft pastel is done on archival textured art board.
